Biscuits
INGREDIENTS
1⁄4 cup sugar
5 cups self-rising flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups buttermilk
1⁄2 cup water
1 cup vegetable shortening, melted & cooled
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 450°.
Mix dry ingredients together.
Cut in wet ingredients and knead well.
Cut into circles and place on baking sheet.
Let rest 5 minutes before placing in oven.
Bake for 10 - 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Brush with butter after removing from oven.
Gravy
INGREDIENTS
One Pound of pork sausage
1/3 cup of all-purpose flour
1 quart of whole milk
1 dash of black pepper and salt
Directions
Cook the pork sausage in skillet. Drain the fat. Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir well.
Cook the flour and the sausage together for about 5 to 8 minutes. Add the whole milk all at once.
Cook over medium heat until thickened. Add the dashes (or two) of black pepper and salt. Serve over your freshly baked copycat Hardee's biscuits. They go perfectly with a side dish of cheesy eggs, coffee and fruit juice - YUM!
